Cap Rouge, Cape Breton

Beach at Cap Rouge

So back in September (yes I am somewhat behind in posts) my parents flew in from our west to visit me. We took a drive up to Cape Breton so they could meet the future inlaws. On the way back home we passed by a place known as Cap Rouge where settlers live a long time ago prior to the Canadian Government taking their land when they created the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. I really liked this beach and intend to go back there when I get a chance to get some more pictures as we didn’t have much time that day and I was somewhat sick so didn’t feel like being out and about too much.

Snow in August?

Snow or Not?

So I am slowly adding older photos to my site here and I am currently working through a trip I took a year ago through the United States on the way from Calgary heading to Kentucky. This particular photo comes from Yellowstone National Park. I particularly love this picture because it looks like the ground is covered in snow despite the temperature being in the area of 100 degrees out that day. Salt is what is actually covering the ground. Left over from the many geological forces that inhabit this area.

Disappearing…

Disappearing

So I went out for a drive yesterday down towards Saint Margaret’s Bay. As we were coming down one nice section of road alongside the ocean I saw this poor boat that has seen better days, I said to Lacey that I think that would make a fantastic photograph. Since it was getting late that evening we didn’t stop and headed home. Yesterday I happened to be going along the same route and saw the boat again and thought I would stop and snap off a few pictures. I thought I would quickly post of them now. The light isn’t the greatest because it was the middle of the afternoon. But I think it turned out ok.

Reborn as… A photoblog.

Black Brook

So I have had my website http://robsutherland.ca for two years now and I haven’t really done much with it. Played around with a few different setups for galleries and I think I found a way to do it that I finally like. I have uploaded a number of new pictures in my galleries. If you have a flickr account feel free to add me as a contact, my profile is located here. I am not sure what I am going to use this site for still, for now perhaps I will use it as a photoblog.

The above picture (click to enlarge) was taken I believe my second or third day in the province of Nova Scotia. It’s taken at Cape Breton Highlands National Park at a very cool beach which was empty except for me due to it being the end of October. During the summer I am told that it becomes a swarm of tourists looking to escape the summer heat.
